Terms of Use

Using the GateRook website, understanding the software licence, and keeping control of your infrastructure.

Effective and last updated:

Your open-source rights remain intact

GateRook is free, open-source software licensed under Apache License 2.0. These website terms do not replace that licence or add restrictions to the rights it grants.

1. Operator and scope

The GateRook website at msrv.dev is operated by Vadym Dobroskok, based in Spain. You can contact the operator at vd@msrv.dev.

These terms describe the conditions for using the website, documentation and download facilities. The desktop software is governed by its open-source licence and applicable third-party licences. The website does not provide an account, a paid subscription or a hosted copy of your infrastructure.

The Privacy Policy explains personal-data processing and analytics choices. Website analytics is enabled by default unless you decline it. You can choose Do not share analytics in the notice or Analytics settings without losing access to the website or downloads.

2. Software licence and third-party materials

The GateRook application is distributed under Apache License 2.0 (opens in a new tab). That licence governs your rights to use, copy, modify and redistribute the software, including commercial use, subject to its conditions. If these website terms conflict with the software licence, the licence controls for the software.

Dependencies, fonts, icons and other third-party materials retain their respective licences and notices. Keep the applicable notices when reusing or distributing material. The GateRook name and marks, and third-party product names and marks, identify their respective projects or owners; the software licence does not grant a general right to use their trademarks.

3. Responsible use of the website and application

Use the website lawfully. Do not disrupt its availability, attempt unauthorised access, distribute malware through it or misuse another person's information. We may restrict abusive traffic where reasonably necessary to protect the website and its visitors. This does not revoke rights granted by the software licence.

When operating GateRook, connect only systems and data you are authorised to access. You are responsible for your AI clients, credentials, endpoint exposure, permissions, connected services and compliance with the rules that apply to your data. Use least-privilege accounts, protect credentials and backups, and test operations before allowing access to important systems.

AI-generated requests can be wrong or destructive. Review the action, target and potential effect before approving a change. Approval, masking, policy controls and audit records reduce risk but cannot guarantee that every unsafe action or sensitive value will be detected. Bypass modes and broad permissions increase the actions a client can perform without review.

These operational recommendations explain safe use; they do not add restrictions to the rights granted by Apache License 2.0. The website's demos are illustrative and do not operate your infrastructure.

4. Connected services and external links

GitHub provides source hosting and downloads. AI providers, databases, cloud services, remote MCP servers, tunnels, plugins and other integrations are separate services. Their own terms, fees, privacy practices and availability apply. Listing an integration does not imply endorsement, a partnership or a guarantee of compatibility.

Review the information you make available to an AI client or external service. GateRook cannot control what another provider does with data after it receives it. You remain responsible for configuring those services and obtaining any necessary permissions.

5. Availability, warranties and liability

GateRook is in active development. Features, documentation, supported platforms and release availability may change. We aim to keep the website useful and accurate, but do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free content, compatibility with every environment, or a particular support response time. No service-level agreement is created by visiting the website or downloading a free release.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and documentation are provided as available, without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation. The software's warranty disclaimer and liability provisions are those in its applicable licence.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses resulting from use of the website or reliance on its examples. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct, or removes mandatory consumer or data-protection rights. No term requires you to waive a right that the law protects.

6. Changes and applicable rights

We may update these terms as the website evolves and will show the revised date on this page. Changes apply prospectively and do not alter rights already granted under an open-source licence. Material changes will be identified on this page.

These website terms are governed by Spanish law, subject to any mandatory protections that apply in your country of residence. They do not require exclusive proceedings in Spain or prevent you from bringing a claim before a court or authority available to you under applicable law. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

7. Questions and reports

For questions about these terms, privacy or a sensitive security concern, email vd@msrv.dev. Avoid including credentials or confidential records. For general bugs and feature suggestions, use the public GitHub issue tracker (opens in a new tab).

See the Privacy Policy for data protection requests and the documentation for setup guidance.
